Message from the President
Welcome to The Retiree Council #13’s website-www.retireecouncil13.com, the website for retired teachers and school related professionals in the Mid-Hudson region.
Please take the time to check it out and you will find important links to NYSUT resources and services you can access as a retiree along with information and activities specific to Retiree Council #13 and the Mid-Hudson region(calendar of events, photo gallery, activities, etc.)
I am confident that after viewing the website, besides reading the valuable information provided, you will see that RC #13 has much to offer to you as a member. The information will help you in keeping you up to date on the latest happenings involving our Union, informing you of opportunities to engage socially with others and how to take part in NYSUT’s political action activities.
This year, we the Board of Directors, are continuing our efforts to increase opportunities for our members for more social and cultural engagements. We are planning to hold several “Garden Walks” in the exquisite Mid-Hudson Region in order to view some of the multiple displays of our region. Additionally, there are planned “group walks” in our 5 counties; a visit to Olana, which has been undergoing major renovations for the public’s enjoyment. There is a bus trip to Saratoga for a day planned for this summer as well as a potential trip to an art gallery. In October, just in time for our area’s beautiful foilage, we are going to offer a Hudson River Fall River Cruise on the “Rip Van Winkle.” In addition, there will be monthly ‘Meet & Eat” restaurant events throughout our region and we are currently planning to have an event in one of the five counties nearly every month.
We continue to provide free monthly “Medicare Minutes’ programming to help you better understand and make the most of your Medicare benefits. Other informative webinars will be made available to you as soon as we are provided the information.
To stay better informed, I urge you to take a few minutes each week and check out your RC #13 website so that you don’t miss out on any opportunities for engagement with peers or to stay abreast of what is happening in NYSUT world.
If you haven’t already, please fill out the Voluntary Membership Participation form and get it to us.
Together, we will continue to enhance all aspects of our retiree council.
Patrick McCarthy
RC #13 President
