Message From the President

Welcome to The Retiree Council #13’s website-www.retireecouncil13.com, the website for retired teachers and school related professionals in the Mid-Hudson region.

Please take the time to check it out and you will find important links to NYSUT resources and services you can access as a retiree along with information and activities specific to Retiree Council #13 and the Mid-Hudson region (calendar of events, activities, photo gallery, etc.)

I am confident after viewing the website besides reading the valuable information provided, you will see that RC #13 has much to offer to you as a member.  The information will help you in keeping up to date on the latest happenings involving our Union, informing you of opportunities to engage socially with others and how to take part in NYSUT’s political action activities.

This year, we the Board of Directors, are continuing our efforts to increase opportunities for our members for more social and cultural engagements.  There are monthly “Meet and Eat” events throughout our region with a “Meet and Eat” in one of the five counties each month.  Of course, we continue to have our annual Spring Luncheon at the historic Beekman Arms in Rhinebeck and our Fall Conference at the Wiltywyck Golf Club in Kingston with its gorgeous Fall Foilage as a background.  We have a visit to the Hudson River Museum and a boat ride on the “Solaris” on the Hudson in June.  We are planning a visit to the recently renovated Olana in the Fall as well.  Mah Jonn and Canasta games and instruction are held at the Mid-Hudson office throughout the year.  We will be scheduling “Fun Fridays” at various times during the year at the Mid-Hudson office in which members can partake in various craft activities, knitting and various board games along with Mah Jonn and Canasta.  Additional events are currently in the planning stages and will be added to our calendar once finalized.

We continue to provide free monthly “Medicare Minutes” to help you better understand and make the most of your Medicare benefits.  Other informative webinars and workshops provided by NYSUT and the AFT will be made available to you as soon as we are provided the information.

To stay better informed, I urge you to take a few minutes each week and check out your RC #13 website so that you don’t miss out on any opportunities for engagement with peers or to stay abreast of what is happening in NYSUT world.

If you haven’t already, please fill out the MEMBERSHIP PARTICIPATION FORM and get it back to us.

Together, we continue to enhance all aspects of our Retiree Council.

Patrick McCarthy

RC #13 President
